I am seriously in two minds over the whole Smashbox range right now. I ordered their Photo Finish Colour Correcting Primer and the Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation. First off it does look a little odd, but the Photo Finish Primer is beyond any other primer that I’ve ever even laid eyes on. It seems weird at first to apply something the color of split pea soup to your face, but the green works to counteract any blemishes, dark spots, and discoloration… and it easily blends to be completely translucent. 

 After loving the primer I was under whelmed by the Studio Skin 15 Hour Long Hydrating Foundation. I was sceptical about this formula as has gathered quite the buzz for being specifically designed to be able to be worn under hot studio lights so I was really hoping that it would do the job. For me this is a really light-weight foundation and although it can be built upon for a more full coverage It wasn't what i was looking for.  

According to Smashbox, it is also “water, sweat, humidity, oil and transfer resistant, and also helps control oil.” -Yes if your someone who has to stand around taking photos of yourself and getting your make up touched  up every few minuets then yes it works brilliantly! It’s not quite worth the price, and I honestly feel like I have been robbed of £28! After hearing great review I was really hoping the foundation would work a lot better with my skin but it really just isn't for me. I do love the primer don't get me wrong but I can't say that I made so much impact that I would buy it again as there are only just as good and at cheeper prices.

my skin is normal, neither oily or dry, but my cheeks are particularly red and blotchy often and although they do go down a little they never completely go and i can’t find a foundation that covers it properly. i also find they tend to make me look green! please help.xx

HerDaydreams: Hi there, don’t despair it’s so common in us girls to look a little over flushed and luckily this means there are many solutions! I’d start with your skincare, to avoid aggravating the redness on your cheeks I really do recommend using sensitive products. As for your make up, don’t change your foundation if it’s a good match for the rest of your face, simply pop on some yellow based powder before and after you apply your foundation, my personal favourite is the Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder by Clinique, this product is quite pricey but a little really does go a long way and the results are worth it. Before you buy this though, go along to your nearest Clinique counter and have them try it on your skin for you so you can see the finish before you spend your pennies! I hope this helped!

HerDaydreams: It might be a good idea to use a product in your hair which makes your hair easier to style, it might not be holding a curl because the hair is too soft. KMS California Hair Stay Style Boost is something I’d really recommend, it is quite a strange product but you apply it to wet hair and dry your hair like normal and it makes your hair much more manageable.

HerDaydreams: Hello lovely, thats so sweet of you, but sadly my skin is far from flawless!  I use a Mac foundation mixed with Revlon Photo ready Foundation and GOSH Face Perfector primer. Applied using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush!

HerDaydreams: You can always get product samples at pretty much any makeup counter if you ask nicely, though I find that signing up to tons of mailing lists for brands like Clinique, Benefit, Estee Lauder etc is really good because they’ll always send you emails about offers or free samples when you spend a certain amount of money.  I also like www.magicfreebiesuk.co.uk, they update their website every day and they always have new offers and free sample links worth having a look at! Hope this helped :)

Review: M.A.C Prep+Primer 

I’ve been searching for the perfect primer for myself and since now i've been using one by GOSH that I purchased at my local superdrug.  I would look all matte and fresh before I leave the house in the morning but before the day ends, meaning afternoon-ish, my face would be all yucky and my make up would be runny (gross? I know).

But I think I may have found the perfect one...

It’s M.A.C Prep+Primer

My mum got it for me a few days back so I decided to try it out on Friday. 

I applied Prep + Prime Line Filler and Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone (both £15 each) over my regular moisturiser, I applied the line filler first to any noticeable wrinkle areas, I don't have many but for me this meant the outer corners and under my eyes mainly.

The formula rather thick, creating sort of a top layer anywhere I applied it. 

Next I applied Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone to my T-zone, as the instructions suggest.  The texture of this product was definitely lighter and applied on like a dream.  For all you ladies with oilier complexions, skin refined zone is an oil-free product with a soy-based emulsion that helps to minimize pores and keep shine at bay.

My foundation went on right after and I could tell that the makeup looked smoother on my skin and didn’t sink into my pores hardly at all.  I’m definitely loving both products, especially on those days where I don’t wear much makeup and really want my good skin to shine through.

So it’s a definite must-have, well, at least for me.
